Welcome!

You’re the kind of person who wants to do motherhood well but isn’t sure how to juggle it all. You want to give your best to your child, partner, family, friends, and career—but it all feels like too much.

If this sounds like you, I understand the pressures that you face every day and I want to help you unburden yourself. Being a parent in our modern world means that we face enormous stressors. I created this therapy practice for mothers like you, so you don’t have to continue struggling or go through this transformative journey without support.

Honor Wellness serves new parents who are trying to conceive, preparing to give birth, and navigating early parenthood. The journey to motherhood is full of unexpected challenges. Therapy can help you feel grounded as your world changes. You don’t have to do it perfectly or try to fit a mold, you can embrace authenticity in motherhood.

Why choose to work with me?

As a Black Woman, I know how important it is to have a mental health provider who looks like you.  It is my mission to serve women of color, like myself, who face so many challenges in the healthcare system. Black Women are welcome here—and individuals of various identities and backgrounds are also welcome at Honor Wellness. I believe in a holistic approach to health. Treatment will not only address your mental health needs but also your physical, social, and spiritual needs. There are many parts of you outside of being a parent and I aim to help you embrace that.

“The fastest way to break the cycle of perfectionism and become a fearless mother is to give up the idea of doing it perfectly—indeed, to embrace uncertainty and imperfection.”

— Ariana Huffington

 My Story

When I was pregnant with my son I wanted to do everything I could to ensure I was ready to give birth and become a parent. I did a lot of preparation for labor, birth, and taking care of my baby. I was trying to prepare for as many problems as I could anticipate, but nothing prepared me for the complex emotions that I experienced after I gave birth. I felt emotionally raw and triggered—there were many days I didn’t recognize myself. My perfectionism was fueling my anxiety and not allowing me to accept help.

I’ve worked as a therapist for 9 years, but my knowledge and experience didn’t safeguard me from struggling in my postpartum experience.  I was desperate to find any information that could help me understand what I was experiencing —so I sought specialized training in maternal mental health. My training gave me the skills to support individuals during this precious part of life. Now, my work is about easing the transition to motherhood for other parents, because we all deserve to know that we are capable of thriving in this season.
