Amber Samson, LCPC

Welcome, I’m so glad you’re here.

You’re the kind of person who wants to do motherhood well—but some days, it feels like you’re juggling more than you can carry. You want to give your best to your child, your partner, your family, your friends, and your career… yet somehow, there never seems to be enough of you to go around.

If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone. I understand the invisible pressures you face every day, and I want to help you lighten that load. Modern motherhood can be overwhelming, and you deserve space to breathe, heal, and rediscover yourself along the way.

I created Honor Wellness for mothers like you— to offer compassionate support through every stage of the journey. Whether you’re trying to conceive, preparing to give birth, or navigating the early years of parenthood, therapy can help you feel more grounded and connected as your world changes.

You don’t have to do it perfectly. You don’t have to fit a mold.
You can show up as your authentic self—and that’s enough.

Why choose to work with me?

As a Black woman and therapist, I understand how meaningful it can be to see yourself reflected in your provider. Having a mental health professional who truly understands your lived experience can make all the difference. My mission is to support women of color, especially Black mothers, who often face unique challenges and barriers within the healthcare system

At Honor Wellness, you’ll find a space where Black women are seen, heard, and supported—and where individuals of all backgrounds and identities are equally welcomed and valued.

My approach to therapy is holistic and culturally responsive. Together, we’ll explore not just your mental health, but also the physical, social, and spiritual aspects of your wellbeing. I believe in treating the whole person, not just the symptoms, because you are more than just a parent.

.Through our work, my goal is to help you reconnect with every part of who you are and embrace your full self—within motherhood and beyond.

“The fastest way to break the cycle of perfectionism and become a fearless mother is to give up the idea of doing it perfectly—indeed, to embrace uncertainty and imperfection.”

— Ariana Huffington

 My Story

When I was pregnant with my son, I wanted to do everything “right.” I read the books, took the classes, and tried to prepare for every possible challenge that could come with birth and early motherhood. I thought that if I planned enough, I could avoid struggling.

But nothing could have prepared me for the emotional rollercoaster that came after giving birth. I felt raw, anxious, and unfamiliar to myself. My perfectionism made it difficult for me to accept help. I’ve been a therapist for nearly a decade, but my professional experience didn’t shield me from the challenges of the postpartum period. Like so many new moms, I realized how unprepared we often are for the emotional side of motherhood. That realization led me to pursue specialized training in perinatal mental health so I could better understand—and support—others who were walking a similar path.

Now, through Honor Wellness, my work focuses on helping mothers navigate the transition into parenthood with compassion, confidence, and care. I believe all parents deserve to feel supported, seen, and capable of thriving during this transformative season of life.
